Why a digital body double works
Body doubling is an established ADHD strategy — working alongside someone to start and stay on task. What makes this different is that the double is always here, never human, and never demands anything of you. The neuroscience is straightforward.
Executive function scaffolding
Starting a task requires the brain's prefrontal cortex to overcome inertia — the same region most affected by ADHD, autism, and burnout. Body doubling works by providing an external anchor: the simple presence of another person signals 'it is time', reducing the cognitive cost of initiation. The brain borrows the structure it cannot generate internally.
Social facilitation
The presence of another person — even silent, even virtual — activates the social attention network. Mild social salience increases task persistence without demand. This is why a body double works better than a timer: it is not measuring you, it is simply being there.
RSD-safe by design
No judgement. No performance. No score. The body double never asks how it is going, never checks your work, never times you against anyone else. It simply sits. For Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria — where being watched triggers shame spirals — this is the only kind of presence that works.
Always available, never human
Physical body doubling requires scheduling, disclosure, and another person's availability. A digital body double that is always open, never needs booking, requires no diagnosis, and never leaves. It is presence without the burden of being perceived — a quiet, reliable companion available at three in the morning or three in the afternoon, anywhere on earth.
Who it helps
ADHD, autism, AuDHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, Tourette's, chronic illness, anxiety, depression, caregiver burnout, grief — anyone whose executive function, energy, or motivation has been eroded. No diagnosis needed. No explanation required. You sit, the double sits, that is enough.
Today's Specials
More ways to not be alone
- Quiet companion
Camera off, a small live sprite on screen that brightens when you type. Felt through your activity, never your face. Nothing recorded, nothing leaves your device.
- Faint co-worker sounds
Optional distant typing, a page turning, a soft chair — the feeling of someone else in the room. No video, no conversation.
- Company on your time
Recorded, screen-free focus streams from the community, loopable, any hour. A calm companion for a three a.m. wake or a low-energy afternoon. Seen, not watched.
- Gentle tokens
Clink a mug, light a shared candle, pass a fidget toy — a non-verbal "I'm here" with zero pressure to reply. Each plays a soft sound. The buttons work.
- Stimming visualizer
Turn your typing rhythm into slow, flowing art — a quiet, pretty thing in the corner. Local only, off by default, nothing recorded.
- Unbundle a task
When a task feels too big, break it into one small first move while you sit with the double. "Clean room" becomes "take three cups to the kitchen" — and the double sits with you for that first step.

Company on your time
Recorded presence loops · Coming soon
Some hours are hard to schedule around — a three a.m. wake, a low-energy afternoon. The presence library will hold short, looped, screen-free focus streams from the community: hands folding laundry, a sketchbook, a keyboard. A calm companion on demand, at any hour. Never a face. Never live. You're seen, not watched.
One email when it opens. No spam, ever.
The Studio for Live Connection
A separate door for live company
Some days you want a real person in the room with you — even with the screen off. The Studio for Live Connection is a separate space for that: opt-in, live, and on your terms. Screen off and audio on, or screen on. You choose. It never replaces the café — it sits beside it, so the quiet core stays quiet.
